Lip Enhancement

Many people would like fuller or more defined lips. From our mid twenties, lips start to become thinner with fine lines starting to appear around the mouth. This is more common in smokers and people with expressive faces.

You will have probably have heard of celebrities who have problems with lip enhancement which has put a lot of people off. Historically these problems have been due to the use of permanent filler products and also treatments performed by unqualified persons. At SelectGP we do not use ANY permanent fillers. To remove the risk of any such problems for further reassurance the modern hyaluronic acid fillers that we use can all be dissolved instantly with a simple injection if the effect are not as desired.

The filler products used are synthetic and derived from animals so as not to cause allergic or inflammatory responses. Hyaluronic acid is naturally present in your skin anyway and it is the loss of this chemical which leads to lines in the skin and thinning of the lips.

Lips can be re-contoured to give a youthful look by injecting soft filler along the lip borders. Redefining this edge also prevents lipstick "bleeding" into the fine lines around the lips.
One of the most effective ways to improve the lip appearance is through non-surgical lip enhancement. We utilise non-permanent safe dermal fillers such as Juvéderm, Succeev and Restylane to help achieve a more natural youthful look in a short period of time. We can also help reverse a downward smile, add volume to thinning lips and smooth out vertical lines that extend upwards from the lip border (smoker’s lines) or that extend downward from the corners of the mouth (marionette lines) – all non-surgically.

Lip enhancements are performed under local anaesthetic for maximum comfort. The effect is immediate and there is often some swelling initially which can last a few days.
The enhancement lasts 9 – 12 months and in some cases longer.

Some patients who are unsure about having their lips enhanced choose to only have a small volume of filler injected on the first occasion. If they like the subtle effect they sometimes come back to have more added once they have gained confidence in the procedure.
